Michael Cacoyannis Foundation presents the work “Black otherwise: Lights on”, by Aimilia Giannopoulou, in collaboration with Dimitris Galanopoulos, curated by Dr. Athena Hadji, Archaeologist and Art Historian.

The work is an installation which utilizes the interaction of light and darkness and sets the visitor in a process of facing? his/ her own image and its reflections. The visitor is an acting agent in the developmental process of the work, signifying thus, depending on his/ her personal stance, aspects thereof and its interpretation.

“Darkness is completely clear and honest in its actions and reactions. Vague, undefined, immaterial, the darkness rises like a wall, if you allow more space and time than allocated. Because darkness exists as an integral part of our life, rightfully and as an axiom, naturally, but to the point that body and mind stop acting in pain and claim the equally undefined and glorious light.”
