The show “MY OTHER LIVES” is, in the form of a monologue, a theatrical composition of instances of Kostas Kastanas’ course in theater. A game of recursion assembled from bits of roles, which he studied and played, and is enriched with thoughts, memories and comments.
The Michael Cacoyannis Foundation hosts these performances on the 12th, 13th and 21st of November 2012, at 21:00.
Some years later, Kostas Kastanas, once again journeys through the texts of great writers with joy, which as seen as a whole have taken the form of a nearly full theatrical account. And he is grateful to his fate for giving him the joy to live through them, from his youth, to continuously discover and now present them to the public in a single representation aspiring the composition of roles, along with personal comments and memories of rehearsals and performances of a lifetime to form a new, original play.
Kostas Kastanas says about the show: With the passage of time, as it is natural, only a sense remains from what has been done, a foam as the one seen on the edge of the waves. The “roles” as they are here presented as miniature monologues, detached from the main chunk, which are the plays they belong to, with the passing of time, they lose of their roughness and the particular texture and fit into a new body, of different texture as members of a new family, a new composition. Therefore, the challenge, is this new result to give a standalone project … and the feeling it conveys will be that of a whole without any concern as to where the monologue comes from, but the individual creating the general …
