Be There! Corfu Animation Festival & Michael Cacoyannis Foundation
The collaboration
Occasioned by the celebration of the International Animation Day and aiming the collaboration with one of the greatest Foundations in Greece, Be There! is getting ready for a three day festival away from Corfu.
From Friday 26 to Sunday 28 of October, Be There! celebrates the animation in the Cinema of Michalis Cacoyannis Foundation, organizing workshops for all school students and professionals and screening the “Best” of of Be There! 2012
Be There! Corfu Animation Festival
In 2011, Be there! Corfu Animation Festival introduces itself. It is the International Animation Festival of Corfu island, that only 2,5 years later can be proud of the creation of an institution including short-films and feature films in competitions, original retrospectives, workshops with some of the masters of animation and Kids Be There! with seminars for children.
The collaboration with other International Festivals form Italy and Czech to Portugal and Brazil is very important for the festival, enriching its educational and entertaining character and giving the chance to its movies to travel around the world and be presented to different audiences as well.
Michael Cacoyannis Foundation
In 2003 Michalis Cacoyannis himself, set up the Michalis Cacoyannis Foundation, with the ambition to create a cultural institution which embraces modern technology and promotes new ideas always preserving the artistic identity reflecting in the relationship of Michael Cacoyannis with Art.
The main aim of the Foundation is the development of educational programs and activities which promote the research, the knowledge and the new technology in every action.
The Reason
In 2002 the International Animated Film Association (ASIFA) organized an international event for the celebration of the International Animation Day.
October 28 was nominated International Animation Day, in memory of the fist, official screening of Optique Theatre by the avant-garde Émile Reynaud, in the Grevin Museum in Paris.
Thus, Be there! Corfu Animation Festival and the Michael Cacoyannis Foundation welcome you all of you to a three day festival. The program is below.

Seminar with Spyros Siakas (for children and schools)
Title: “A place narrates”- workshops introducing the techniques of animation
