TWO-DAY SYMPOSIUM FOR BOUZOUKI & Concert by Bouzouki Ensemble OI EPOMENOI

For the first time in Greece, a two-day symposium is organized on the subject of the mainly soloist instrument of the Greek musical landscape, bouzouki, as well as its contribution to the Folk Song, having as main demand the establishment of state diploma of the instrument’s specialization.

The two-day symposium will take place at the Michael Cacoyannis Foundation on Sunday, October 14th and on Monday, October 15th 2012, while it is going to be ended with a concert by the bouzouki ensemble “OI EPOMENOI”.

Academics, researchers, journalists, traditional instrument makers as well as the best of the old and the young bouzouki virtuosi join their forces in this unique artistic and theoretical event, open to the audience, which is going to be accompanied by an exhibition of historic instruments (Chiotis, Zambetas, Tsitsanis etc) as well as documents, screenings and a concert.

Following the two-day symposium more and various activities will follow which will enlighten various aspects of the birth, the routes and the evolution of bouzouki, an instrument that is originated in ancient times.
