INSENSO an opera without music

“Insenso”
an Opera Without Music

by Demetris Demetriades

Demetris Demetriades’ play, directed by Emmanouil Koutsourelis, will be presented at the Black Box of the Michael Cacoyannis Foundation from the 17th until the 26th of September 2012.

The play is a magnificent monologue, inspired by the famous Luchino Visconti movie of 1954 Senso, which the author refers to as an “opera without music”.

Demetriades takes the heroine from where Visconti has left off and creates a whole new play based on the continuation of Livia Serpieri’s personal drama, plunging into the human agony against love, betrayal and the impossibility of the union.

The play is interpreted by two actresses, Stamatina Papamichali and Marisa Tsari, the set and costumes are by Anastasia Arseni, the scenic movement by Katia Savrami and  the sound is designed by K. Vita.

The performance was first presented on May/June 2012 at the Screening Room of Nixon Bar.
