Once upon a time AND WHAT HAPPENS NEXT??? – a multi-workshop for children of primary education
A multi – workshop of creative writing, visual arts and theatrical expressions for children, based on fairy tales, designed especially for Michael Cacoyannis Foundation by psycho-pedagogue and story teller Sasa Voulgari. With the help of puppeteer Margarita Dimitrousi, she presents a fresh summer workshop full of plays and imagination only for our little friends!
It is a workshop for children attending primary education! A meeting with the imaginary world of traditional fairy tales, where children will have the opportunity to listen old stories and traditional fairy tales and get inspired from them in various ways. Collages, children’s theater plays, puppet theater, a cinema projection, musical improvisations with pots and other more! As well as many stories! That we will be making on the spot.
AIMS OF THE WORKSHOP
The objective of this summer workshop is to bring kids in contact with texts either in regards to oral tradition or to well known literature pieces. In this way, children develop their love for reading, they play creatively with stories; through producing and illustrating, they are given the chance to practice their verbal abilities, broaden their imagination and creation horizons, communicate and cooperate with children of different ages than theirs, all in a fairytale way.
PREREQUISITES
In order to participate in the workshop children should be attending primary education, so that they have sufficient verbal expression.
The workshop will be running on a daily basis, for ten (10) consecutive working days, starting the first week after the closing of schools. It starts at 9:30 and ends at 13:30 every day. The program concludes space alternations so that children have time to rest as well as, have lunch with what they bring from home.
THE STORY-TELLER SASA VOULGARI
The story-teller Sasa Voulgari is self-educated and belongs to the prime movers of neo-narration (for adult as well as children audience) in Greece, with a constant professional activity since 1993. She is a psycho educator with specialization in the fields of alternative teaching and experienced in educational and creative programs as well as the special education. Her prolific as well as of high quality artistic production proves that she is one of the most prominent artists in the sector of professional narration, with a significant influence on the upcoming generations of story-tellers. Having their shows frequently, she has created stable “posts for tales” and since 1996 she has been cooperating regularly with Museums, creating specialized and interdisciplinary programs. Having shaped her own method, she teaches at seminars and she participates in conferences and symposiums for the story-telling art since 1995. In 1998 she narrated 13 Greek fairytales for the public television ET1. She frequently writes articles for Kathimerini newspaper.
THE PUPPETEER MARGARITA DIMITROUSI
From 1993 till 2006 she was participating in short films, in theater plays and she was cooperating with theater groups for creating childrens plays for schools. In 2007 she studies puppets design and construction of glove puppets, marrots and puppets with her tutor, Vasilis Athanasakis. Simultaneously, she was attending classes for manufacturing and handling Karagiozis puppets with the instructor Argyris Athanasiou and finally, she completed her studies in Accettella Puppet Theater in Rome with the instructors, Icaro and Bruno Accettella.
Since 2007 she has been working with the Athenian Marionettes Company and she has been participating in plays for schools, cultural centers and puppet theater festivals. Moreover, she has been involved in creative children’s activities and along with The Athenian Marionettes, she has been realizing Workshops on puppets construction. In 2009 she participated in the play Koppelia, directed by Carmen Rougeri, while since 2009 she has been a member of Athenian Marionettes, and she has been collaborating with the Cultural Center “Hellenic Cosmos”, which is part of the Hellenic World Foundation.
At the same time, she has been involved with speakage, while since 2010 she has been attending classes on vocal narration and fairytale creative writing techniques with Sasa Voulgari, as her tutor.
