GALAXY by BLITZ team
GALAXY is a four-hour performance that was created for Low Budget Festival in December 2010 by blitz team. Following the success that won during the three days that was presented at Michael Cacoyannis Foundation, GALAXY is being presented again at the same place.
GALAXY is a four-hour parade of humans, things, notions, objects, movements, expressions and words that have been disappeared.
A variety of people. A fixed list. A catalogue with all those and all these that have been lost with no return. Recently or some years ago or even before that, centuries ago. Cinematographers, tenors, kings, gods, philosophers, ideas, objects, decades, words, directors, poets, inventors, farmers from Thessaly, bars, bands, advertisements, singers, streets, abandoned villages, artistic movements, lovers, mistresses, songs, car models, motorbike models, lawyers, doctors from Patisia or Kalamaria, boy-friends, girl-friends, writers, painters, soldiers, architects, carpenters, saints, books, novel heroes, movie heroes, emperors, battles, myths, animals, wrestlers, classmates from the city of Patras or Thessaloniki, crusaders, composers, pianists, violists, psychologists, violinists, cellists, anarchists, communists, fascists, Nazis, socialists, mayors, choristers, actors, clowns, serial killers, habits, names, houses, songs again, music instruments, obsessions, superstitions, legendary monsters, epic stories, chemists, botanists, biologists, cartographers, sculptors, pop idols, TV channels, housewives, betrayed husbands, poets again, football players, boxers, basketball teams, discos, friends again, magicians, illusionists, commanders, knights, geologists, psychoanalysts, baseball players.
8 actors, on the stage, drink along with the audience and recall people who have died, ideas that vanished, objects which have fallen into disuse, or have been old-fashioned surpassed by the trend, words and phrases that no one use anymore. A narration that comes over the whole history of humankind as well as the human spirit, moving rapidly from emotion to laughter, from cheap to important, from gross to poetic.
The performance lasts four hours. The time of turnout and leaving for the audience is open. Moreover, since there is no break, entrance and exit for the spectators take place at will and according to each and every one’s needs.
As the narration continues, spectators go to and fro; they go out for a smoke or a conversation. When they come up again, the performance keeps going on, like a bizarre fest that cannot be interrupted in any case, a society of actors and spectators- that owes to remember until exhaustion in order to understand the mysterious circumstances under which has been shaped what we live in nowadays.
