A few words about the publication
With the completion of the present three volume autobiography of “TO CHREOS”, Crete University Press feels that it has paid its debt to Greek society and its history. They hand in to the Greek reader – but also, to tomorrow’s researcher- the definite publication of the autobiography of Mikis Theodorakis, a man who marked the cultural and political history of contemporary Greece, as few men have. Nevertheless, an autobiographical publication of that great importance has been for years inaccessible to the Greek reader as it has been scattered in various either out of reach or unpublished volumes.

Crete University Press hands in a complete autobiographical piece to the Greek audience and the special researchers and aims to help take the focus off the “Political Theodorakis” and make room for a deeper analysis on his work in music. This Publication aims to search out the sources of its inspiration in music. It also queries what is it that makes a society capable of   either encouraging or compressing creativity. People of Crete University Press strongly believe that, under the circumstances that our country is passing through at the present, a reading of Mikis Theodorakis’ autobiography is more actual than ever before.
