Visual – Poetry 2011 – Collective Exhibition

Here, visual artists are invited to produce works inspired by poetry in its wide notion.

The incorporation of poetry into the visual artwork carries perhaps a subterranean symbolism, an intention to be integrated in real life.

We experience eras in which materialism is being increased with violent rhythms in its fields, burdening poetry, burdening imaginary. An imaginary pelted with fears and substitutes.

If we don’t turn to poetry’s side, hardly any other art is able to offer us material for the reconstruction of face, culture, dignity. At least in this country has always been this way until now.

Because poetic word is
the sharp knife that peels the notions,
the mattock that digs the rifle pit in the treasure,
the match that enlightens the old storage.
It is not a curriculum supplement,
rope for social ascent,
land-mine of sorrow.
It is a land-mine in wait.

At the official opening of the exhibition, a performance will be presented by Kostas Antonatos.
