Eleven student groups that have risen to prominence during the 1st Student Choreography Festival “dance it 2010” present their work at the Theater Hall of Michael Cacoyannis Foundation.

Michael Cacoyannis Foundation in partnership with “education & dance” program of the East Attica Secondary Education Department, presents on Wednesday 23rd of June 2010, at 20:30, eleven high school student groups (Gymnasium – Lyceum level) which have risen to prominence during the 1st Student Choreography Festival “dance it 2010!”, that was organized by the Secondary Education Department of East Attica and took place with great success at the 10th of April 2010 at the Pallini Music School.

The 1st Student Choreography Festival “dance it 2010!” was integrated into the “education & dance” program and offered students the opportunity to express themselves through movement creating group choreographies and dance-theater compositions on subjects that they are concerned in. Around 158 students participated in “dance it 2010!” member of 23 Contemporary Dance Groups from 16 high schools while an experiential event was organized as well, with the choreographer Apostolia Papadamaki.

During this tough period that our country goes through and taking for granted that dance has no boundaries and is able to communicate immediately, the feelings of joy, love as well as the talent of the students and the tutors, who express themselves through the arts of dancing, spread a message of optimism and hope for the future.

The composition’s originality, the generosity, the talent, the student performances, the inspirational motivation as well as the choreographic compositions, inspired the choreographer, Apostolia Papadamaki, the program coordinator, Niko Gova as well as the Michael Cacoyannis Foundation, in order to organize a best of  night about the Student Choreography Festival “dance it 2010!”, where the 11 prominent groups will present their choreographies and at the same time they are going to talk to the audience about the dance genre they have chosen to be expressed with, coordinated by Apostolia Papadamaki.

At the “dance it – best of” night participate students from the following schools:
12th Gymnasium of Acharnais “Olympic Village”, 1st Gymnasium & Lyceum of Avlona, Artistic Gymnasium- Lyceum Levels of Gerakas, Keratea Lyceum, Marathonas Lyceum, 2nd Lyceum of Kalyvia, A’ Tositseio-Arsakeio lyceum of Ekali, Experimental Music Gymnasium- Lyceum from Pallini, Leontio Lyceum of Nea Smirni.

The “education & dance” program aims to investigate the pedagogical dimensions and the educational potential of dance, contributing to the typical education as well as offer the opportunity to students to express collectively points of view, ideas and feelings creating choreographies and dance – theater compositions. According to the program’s framework, educational seminars – workshops are being organized, educational exchanges e.t.c. The program operates by the East Attica Secondary Education Department – Cultural Affairs since the school-year 2009 – 2010 as a cooperation network between schools, students and tutors.
