Chainfree Film Festival 2010

Chainfree Film Festival 2010

CHAINFREE FILM FESTIVAL 2010
Michael Cacoyannis Foundation, in collaboration with the Greek Network of Independent Cinematographers, entitled Chainfree, present for the first time in Greece, a new Film Festival, which takes place in April the 16th, 17th and 18th 2010 in the Foundation’s Cultural Center and especially in one of the most sophisticated cinema halls in Athens.

Chainfree Film Festival aims to contribute to the fields of cinema by offering podium as well as screen to these independent directors, in order to present their filmic creations to a wide audience, an opportunity that, aside the web, according to the contemporary circumstances lacks. In fact, it is still quite not effectible to combine traditional presentation and projection to big screen. In this Film Festival there is no approval procedure for the films that have been submitted neither the procedure of voting as well as prize awarding any critique committee, as usually happens to other Festivals.

This year, 19 short films as well as 2 full-length films participate in Chainfree Film Festival 2010, which have been created throughout the last 2 years by 13 young directors, who belong to Chainfree Network.

Chainfree Network
Chainfree Network has recently been established, in September 2009, in order to embrace mainly all the young, as well as independent cinematographers in Greece, who creatively contribute to the 7th Art by using their own funds as far as the creation, production, distribution and promotion of their films are concerned. It is actually an “umbrella”, a movement that appeals and compresses young people from cinema field in Greece, such as students as well as professionals, and aims to create a new film industry, different to the one that we usually watch the last decades, in other words a film industry that rehashes old-fashioned ideas on the contrary to one that creates according to the principles of imagination, freshness and freedom of expression. Chainfree makes an effort in this way to make its revolution in this hermetically sealed and difficult field. Essentially, it is a dynamic that is being created and enables different cinematographic teams, without losing their own identity and artistic distinctness.
