Michael Cacoyannis Foundation in collaboration with the Greek Centre of the International Union of Puppetry Arts celebrates the World Puppetry Day on the 21st of March 2010 with marionettes exhibition, video projection and open debate.

The World Puppetry Day is celebrated globally on the 21st of March since 2003 under the authority of UNESCO. Michael Cacoyannis Foundation seizes the chance to celebrate this year’s World Puppetry Day, continuing the collaboration with Unima- Hellas and presents:

Friday 19th until Monday 22nd of March 2010
•    Exhibition with Marionettes by the sculptor David Kennedy-
The Exhibition consists of 30 big size marionettes, which are created by the sculptor David Kennedy for performances of the V. Vasilakis puppet theater company and they will for the first time be exhibited in a stage designed environment.

•    Exhibition with Marionettes and on the parallel visual presentation of the construction procedure by the Ionian’s Association “Puppet Construction Workshop”

Saturday 20th of March 2010
From 10:00 untill 21:00- Video projection with parts of puppet theater performances, photos and texts related to the art of puppetry.

At 12:00- Presentation- Open discussion on the subject: The Art of Puppetry from the Ancient Times to the Contemporary Theater.
A discussion about the nature and the role of puppet and human” – Presented by Stathis Markopoulos, Puppeteer and President of the Unima Greek Center.
