RITUAL TRACES
A path is unfolding that follows the traces of a modern-day look through snapshots of customs from Greek popular tradition, where ritual is the core of human expression. Two worlds meet in the imaginary landscape of a boy that take shape through the presence of twenty-four dancers of traditional and modern dance. They create a dynamic dialogue where at times they fight, or supplement each other, and, eventually, co-exist giving birth to a new ritual of images, memories, and emotions.
Every time the same… Every time in different shape, different momentum, different look, and an enigmatic face is always there. It does not speak. It does not reveal itself. But even so, among them there is an invisible bond that becomes increasingly stronger.
The protagonist engages in acrobatics between “light” and “shadow” in the known and the unknown; the visible, and the invisible. They pursue their own identity, trying to tell reality from dream. They pursue “exit” while at the same time are attracted by a world that stays hidden and seems to be inviting them in it.
Is it after all tradition itself that transforms itself and others? Is it an unknown piece of themselves? Possibly the journey does not lead to the disclosure of shape, but the disclosure of those who pursue it.
