Rosarte at the World Choir Games – Support Greeces leading childrens choir to fulfill their dream and compete in the 2014 World Choir Games
Support Greeces leading childrens choir
to fulfill their dream and compete
in the 2014 World Choir Games
In 2008, Greeces leading childrens choir Rosarte was the first Greek choir to win a gold medal in a choir competition, at the 5th Choir Olympics (1st Category-Childrens choirs), which took place in Graz, Austria, in 2008.
This year, Rosarte will compete again, at the 2014 World Choir Games in Riga, Latvia and strive to win a second gold medal for Greece. We are confident that we can excel in a competition that involves 500 choirs from at least 100 countries and in the process, contribute in the promotion of the culture of our country. The competition will take place in July 2014 and in the meantime we are feverishly involved in rehearsals, preparing to compete in the category for 10-16 years old, as well as carrying out fund raising events and concerts.
Rosarte was founded in 2008 by its conductor, Rosie Mastrosavva and consists of 250 children and youths, aged 5-20. The choir has three sections: voice preparation section, childrens section and children-youth section. Among its many accomplishment the choir has participated in choir festivals, in concerts at the Herodeion, the Athens Megaron Concert Hall, the Onassis Cultural Centre, the Demetria festival in Thessaloniki and the National Opera of Greece. The choir has co-operated with important conductors, such as Philippe Augen, L. Karytinos, Al. Baltas, M. Michailides, V. Fidetzis, N. Tsouhlos, I. Voudouris, A. Pylarinos, N. Halliasas and with symphonic orchestras and choirs such as the N.O.G., the E.R.T., the Athens State Symphony Orchestra, Camerata and others. Moreover it has participated in documentaries, recordings, various T.V. broadcasts and is actively engaged in charity performances, in particular for charities involved in childrens health issues.

HERE IS HOW YOU CAN HELP!
Here is how you can support us in our pursuit of Gold: in Riga, the choir will participate with 50 children, who need to cover the expenses of airfare, accommodation and per diems. This is very difficult for their families, due to the financial crisis in Greece. Rosarte is a non-profit organization and does not receive institutional state support. It relies on small, monthly tuition fees and is struggling to cover the childrens expenses. Our total expenses for travelling to Riga are 56,000 $ (airfare, accommodation and per diems for 50 children and 10 adult escorts). Please support us by contributing, sharing our campaign and encouraging your friends to sponsor us. We need you in order to travel to Riga, we cannot compete without your support!
What the choir will accomplish
In this time of financial crisis and hardship, Rosarte is an incredibly inspirational example of what Greece can achieve with small and limited means. Its a beacon of hope for children and youth, showing them that it is possible to fight and achieve their goals and dreams in life.
Contribute in kind
Your assistance is invaluable in helping us to secure a permanent sponsor. We also welcome ideas and suggestions for concert venues, as well as fund-raising events, photographing the choir etc. Please write to Rosie Mastrosavva, the conductor of the choir, at rosierosarte@hotmail.com.
What happens if we exceed our goal?
The funds will cover the remaining expenses necessary for travelling to Riga. So far, we have raised approximately 10,000 $ out of our 56.000 $ goal and we will continue to organize fund raising events and concerts, during the first half of 2014.
Current project schedule
The Riga World Choir Games take place in July 2014. We are feverously preparing to compete in the section 10-16 years in Riga, while organising fund raising events and concerts. Risks and challenges Our major challenge is our extremely tight budget combined with the minimal monetary resources available to us, at the current time of financial crisis in Greece. We have both the experience and the will to win the Gold Medal at the competition in Riga, we just need a small push from you to support this project and make it known to as many people as possible!
