1st International Award “Premio DARTS – Per una nuova drammaturgia”

organised by the theatre “ConsorzioScenico” at Trieste

Why DARTS?
The word DARTS means: Drama, Art, Trieste.
It is also the acronym for: Drama, Authors, Renewal, Theatre and Translation, Stage.
In English DARTS are sudden and fast movements. DARTS is also a game with a target.

The DARTS New Drama Award is divided in two sections:
-New Italian Language Drama: section dedicated to an unpublished Italian language contemporary play by authors under the age of 35. Accepted works: original plays and adaptations/transpositions of works of fiction/novels or plays.
-Italian Translation of a New Drama: section dedicated to translators under the age of 35. Accepted works: translations into Italian of a contemporary foreign play.
The drama must not have been published in Italian yet.

The prizes of the first edition are:
Monetary prize: 500 to the winner of each section.
The winning texts will be published by Asterios Publishing House.
Stage reading performance of the winning texts, uncut version or agreed adaptation.
The jury has the right to reserve a special mention for a particularly worthy and valuable work.

The texts will be selected and evaluated by a panel of experts composed of: Masolino D’Amico, president of the jury, Paolo Quazzolo, professor at the University of Trieste, the actors of ConsorzioScenico and an editor from Asterios Publishing House.
