CRACK: The new choreography by the awarded Zita Dance Company

Just before presenting their new work, entitled CRACK, from December 18th until 21st at Michael Cacoyannis Foundation, Zita Dance Company and Iris Karayan have been awarded with the 1st place for Choreography Award (Jarmila Jerabkova Award 2010) by the New Europe Festival of Prague. A festival recognized as one of the topmost in the fields of contemporary dance and dance-theatre, which is organized by the Divadlo Duncan Centre in Czech Republic.

Thus, from this Saturday, let your senses enter the constantly alternating universe of CRACK and explore the outcome of cooperation between the awarded choreographer Iris Karayan, visual artist Nikos Papadimitriou and composer Nikos Veliotis, in a performance exploring the relation between INDIVIDUAL & COLLECTIVE.

The work invites spectators into a sensorial spatiotemporal experience. Forms and shapes emerge and transform while figures and structural elements of the performance function as independent elements that build up into integral ensembles. Intense rhythmic structures determine the movement altering from repetitive accumulations to the total pause of actions.

The continuous process of space transformation is achieved through the performers interaction and mobility, while space and that which occupies it become one. Collective-individual, order-disorder oppositions create a spatiotemporal condition of constant change.
