Prometheus Cancelled
Αn invitation to a collective reflection
A theatrical performance inspired by the myth of Prometheus
At the Michael Cacoyannis Foundation on September 19, 20, and 21 at 21:00
From the theatrical group Trupe Pé na Arte
Inspired by the Greek myth of Prometheus and strikingly relevant today, the theatrical performance “Prometheus Cancelled”, held at the Michael Cacoyannis Foundation on September 19,20 and 21, invites the audience to reflect on the ambiguity of knowledge.
The theatre group Trupe Pé na Arte, with a groundbreaking perspective, arrives from Brazil with a subversive and thought-provoking production, presented exclusively at the Michael Cacoyannis Foundation for three days.
Through the re-examination of the symbol of Prometheus—the one who dared to defy the gods and gift fire to humanity—the performance seeks to capture the essence of knowledge in a world bewildered by moral crisis, the struggle for power, and the urgent need to reconsider, through a different lens, its relationship with science, technology, and truth.
If Prometheus was alive today, would we praise him as a hero, or condemn him to a digital “exile”? The fire he gave to humankind—a symbol of enlightenment and knowledge—is also a tool of control, exclusion, and inequality. How do we navigate this paradox without seeking easy answers, while demonstrating resilience and courage in embracing risk, poetry, and the shared experience?
The performance unfolds in the tension between two worlds: the “handmade” theatrical act and the digital realm, now dominant in all our lives and shaping the way we exist in today’s world.
Above all, Prometheus Cancelled is an invitation to a collective reflection. Together, perhaps we can imagine what it means to illuminate rather than dominate, to share rather than to subjugate, and to build bridges between past and present, myth and reality, art and life.
