The new exhibition of paintings, sculptures and prints by Dimitris Yeros in Kapatays Art Gallery in Nicosia Cyprus
Kapatays Art Gallery in Nicosia Cyprus will be presenting an exhibition of paintings, sculptures and prints by Dimitris Yeros, starting December 10th 2014.
Thirty-five of Yeross works, in various sizes and created in the past 25 years, will be presented for the first time to the viewing public in Cyprus.
Dimitris Yeros creates a world unfettered by physical reality; instead, he remoulds the reality that he perceives, filters it and finally synthesises it into new and unexpected relationships, in a metaphysical atmosphere of an intellectual character. The intense symbolism inherent in his compositions, in the stark landscapes of indeterminate time, often with a man running across to the left, the unknown varieties of trees growing in the most unexpected places, the skies that are filled with liquid clouds, the gaps or windows that act as containers of his personal quintessence of life, have all been painted with the firm belief so firm that it becomes infectious that in fact they are naturalistic landscapes, displaying a Flemish masters meticulous care and attention to detail.
The first time that Dimitris Yeros presented his work in a solo exhibition in Nicosia was at the Zygos-Gloria gallery in 1978, while his third and latest exhibition in Cyprus was in 1983. The Greek artist has had 54 solo exhibitions in Greece and abroad, and his works can be found in museums and private collections in many parts of the world. He collaborates primarily with Throckmorton Fine Arts of New York and Holden Luntz Gallery of Palm Beach.
In the past 25 years he has been equally successful in photography: his latest book, with photos inspired by the poems of C.P. Cavafy, was included in the Top Ten list of the best books of 2011 selected by the American Library Association.
Another book to come out in 2015 will include photographs of Gabriel García Márquez taken by Dimitris Yeros in sessions with the famous author in Mexico and Colombia.
The exhibition will be run until January 15th 2015.
