The 38th Grand Prix Maria Callas is in full progress. 16 young lyrical singers passed to the 2nd stage with 2 Greek women among them, while the members of the International Jury Committee exchange views on the present and the future of the Opera
The members of the International Jury Committee of the 38th Grand Prix Maria Callas Opera 2014 recognizing the high standards and requirements of this institution but also the special weight that a Prize from the particular contest carries, at their yesterdays meeting, late at night, and with their secret and strict grading, forwarded 16 young lyrical singers (out of the 46 participants in total) to the 2nd stage of the Contest. On Wednesday 8th and on Thursday 9th of October 2014, at 14:30 in Michael Cacoyannis Foundation, 1 bass, 4 baritones, 5 tenors, 5 sopranos and 1 mezzo soprano from Greece, Romania, Brazil and South Korea will compete each other. Among them, two Greek sopranos: Ekaterini Koufochristou and Anna Stylianaki. In the meanwhile, during the Press Conference (6.10.2014) for the presentation of the 38th Grand Prix Maria Callas – Opera 2014, the members of the International Jury Committee occasioned by a journalists question, started an interesting conversation about the present and the future of the Opera, as well as the young lyrical singers.
