ETHAL (Limassol Theatre Development Company) will present for the first time for the Greek audience (translated in Greek), the worldwide well known play The Whore from Ohio, a black comedy masterpiece by Hanoch Levin.
The
whore from Ohio is a black comedy that talks about sex, money, god,
love, dreams, national honour, social security and lies about all of the
above!
It is a story about a whore waiting for a rich tourist to
marry her and buy her a pool and there is a possibility that this can
actually happen (not!)
It is a story about a beggar who decides to
celebrate his seventieth birthday (not!) by going to the whore and
giving her all of his money (not!).
It is a story about a son who is
running behind his father because he loves him (not!) and wants to offer
him some love and affection (not! not! not!)
It is the story of
these three people waiting. Waiting for something to happen and keep
them alive, or at least not completely dead. Waiting for something to
lead them through the dust and the dirt into the arms of the whore from
Ohio.
The top dramatist, referred to as the Brecht of Israeli Theatre,
is considered to be the reformer of contemporary dramaturgy in the
neighbor country. The specific play is meant to be one of his best,
worthwhile to mention that was performed at the La Ma Ma Theatre in New
York City in 2006.
The translation (from Hebrew to Greek) was done by the awarded interpreter Jacob Shibi, the direction by Panayiotis Larkou, the set and costumes by Edwardos Georgiou and the lighting design by Vasilis Peteinaris. The play is consisted out of three actors: Eftyhios Poullaides, Vasiliki Kypraiou and Minas Tingilis.
