The vivid and colorful adventures of the hero provided us the background for a very interesting and rare narration. By using ParaMana Puppet Theatre’s unique techniques and the refined techniques of Modern Shadow and object Theatre, we manipulate the theatrical space or even the classroom as a gigantic screen. The shadows appear at times huge and at other times minuscule and are projected not only on a screen in front of the audience but even above, behind or at their sides keeping in that way the children’s regard alarmed and vivid at all times. 

 

The representation of each episode is being realized with a direct reference and commitment to the representations over the ancient Greek black figure vases and the friezes of ancient temples where the adventures of Theseus were once embossed. In present times we have designed and cut out all these adventures over modern materials such as vinyl. At the end of the show we accompany the children to the backstage where we explore and present to our audience our equipment and materials, figures and modern techniques. We also discuss about ancient Athens, open a big map and outline all the locations where Theseus once passed from; we talk about each location and its significance pointing out their universal value even nowadays.
