“The crescent moon bear”
“The crescent moon bear”
The tale is based on the Japanese story “Tsuki no waguma” – “The crescent moon bear” as it appears on Clarissa’s Pinkola Estes’ book “Women who run with the wolves”. It is about the adventurous journey of a little girl who decides to save her father’s troubled soul when he comes home after the war. The show highlights the dramatic consequences of war and how it is recorded on the human soul.
After the show, the teenage spectators are invited to share their opinion and get involved in a conversation regarding the story’s main theme as well as other relevant issues also raised by it. The discussion usually revolves around the topics of justice, democracy, freedom, solidarity and equality. Could there ever be a peaceful world?
ParaMana Puppet Theatre uses three dimensional shadows of minuscule figurines that derive as projections of three dimensional images from an original handmade projector on a screen. The show is enriched with electronic music and live narration offering an unparalleled experience of shadow theatre performance.
“The Crescent Moon Bear” show has travelled through Europe and Greece to International Puppet Theatre Festivals retracting enthusiastic reviews. It has been presented to numerous gymnasiums and high schools around the country and to the Michael Cacoyannis Foundation in Athens.
