The Citizens’ Assembly is knocking at your door!

Crisis, austerity, Euro-scepticism: since a couple of years, these words are buzzing in the heads of European citizens. To end this spiral of negativity, a curious caravan of seven actors of seven different nationalities will travel together this summer from Paris to Strasbourg, from Athens to Brussels, from Vilnius to Berlin and even to London. In each of these cities, the actors propose the audience to revisit Europe.

‘The Initiative’, co-authored by Laurence Cohen and Catherine Veglio-Boileau, is loosely based on the fairy tale “The Bremen Town Musicians” by the Brothers Grimm, and will be played in eight languages. Each personality (a Greek landlady, a Turkish-Belgian runaway, a pro-European English, a cosmopolitan musician) embodies a European trait. Will this eclectic committee of citizens get along with each other? Will they succeed turning their initiative into reality?

The play is followed by a Democratic Forum: Youth unemployment, identity crisis, Eurozone, health, retirement, finance, freedom of movement, multilingualism: everything will be commented in this public debate. Fuelled by citizens, from students and shopkeepers to politicians and artists, while the dynamic Dutch-Parisian journalist Stefan de Vries will orchestrate these debates.

A multicultural brainstorming that will oxygenate your neurons!

The Citizens’ Assembly will tour seven European capitals from September 26 to October 19, 2013 (list of dates and locations available in the appendix).
