«Gazing at the Moon»

an Exhibition with the photographs of the stellar firmament that were taken
during NASA’s manned missions to the moon
from 1962 and onwards.
The exhibition presents large printed photographs from NASA archive that depict what the manned NASA missions in outer space have witnessed from 1969 till today, with the help of Hasselblad cameras.
The beginning was made by the astronaut Walter Schirra. In October 1962, Schirra was the first man that took his Hasselblad 500C camera with Zeiss Planar lens f/2.8, 80, during the space mission of rocket Mercury. He removed the leather cover of his camera, he painted it black to reduce the possible reflections of light and he simply took photographs of the beautiful miracle of the universe. With that action, he set the basis for cooperation between the American Space Service and the Company of the Swedish Cameras.
As it is expected, the perennial cooperation (for more than 40 years) of these companies has given amazing depictions of the stellar firmament, the outer space and Earth and these photos are full of useful information and details for the experts.
By the time that lunar tourist trips will be achieved, there is a certainty that the travelers may discover the cameras that were abandoned by the astronauts all these years. And that’s because they were keeping only the photographic films, during their return to Earth.
