Artificial Intelligence (A.I.) has recently invaded our lives and promises to facilitate them in various ways. However, as with any new tool, it hides several risks that mainly depend on who uses it and for what purpose. Most visible of all is the risk of plagiarism and copyright infringement, which artists are already experiencing to a great extent from the various AI machines. The phenomenon must be regulated as soon as possible, but to this day, it is developing in a vacuum, causing concern for the present and the future.
Last September, at the Book Festival in Pedio tou Areos, the Greek Comics Academy invited comics artists in a conversation with expert scientists about the phenomenon of AI Art (you can follow the discussion here).
As a next step, the Academy is organizing a comics and illustration exhibition entitled “WE AND AI”, with the participation of 45 Greek artists.
Starting on December 19th, the exhibition —which will be hosted at the Michael Cacoyannis Foundation (Piraeus 206, Tavros) and curated by the experienced artist Gabriel Tombalides— will last 19 days (until January 6th) with the aim of becoming a must-see event for the Christmas!
