Opertus | Art & Photography by Luiz Veloso

The art of Architecture constantly redefines the way of life and evolution of our society and invites us to observe the world through a new point of view.
However, as we are used to new forms of architecture, we have the tendency to consider its works as part of the landscape, overcoming the details and the elements that could change the way we look at a building or an architectural block of buildings. The art of Photography is a powerful tool that highlights these “invisible” details of our surroundings and throws different light on the way of perceiving our reality.

Opertus: You are invited to see above the “first” image that your eyes realise!

Can we actually define how real reality is? Seeing life through our eyes only is embarking on a journey through the obvious. When we follow this path we just gaze at the universe instead of experiencing it. We are only really alive when we manage to free ourselves from self-imposed limitations and open our minds to the unconventional.

OPERTUS invites us to reflect about the importance of exploring the many perspectives hidden in our daily lives because, after all, reality is not about what our bodies can feel but about what our minds can perceive.

Luiz Veloso was born in 1968, in the highlands of Minas Gerais in
Brazil. As his family had to travel constantly around the immense country of
Brazil, this experience provided him with an extensive and unique collection of
images of landscapes and scenery and also caused to him an intense curiosity to
explore other foreign cultures.

In 1987, his family established in Brasília where the modernist architecture of Oscar Niemeyer
sparked the interest in art and design and led him to the Art of photography.

In  2007, Luiz relocated in Switzerland  where he was motivated to create photographic
registry of daily life and followed photography courses at Sony, while
his photos were prized in websites of Switzerland and USA. Since
2011, Luiz is living in Athens, where the alternative cultural scene acted like
a catalyzer of the desire to work exclusively with photography as Art.
