In March 2013, Cyprus became the first Eurozone member state to be subjected to a bail-in on deposits, as a means to rescue the island’s problematic banks. Depositors of the two largest banks of the island experienced a dramatic haircut of their life savings. In this documentary, seven stories emerge from the black hole of the banks.

Danae Stylianou was born in Limassol, in 1984. She studied BA(Hons) Film Production at the University of Westminster in London, from where she graduated in 2004. 

She directed three short films since, while in 2011 she directed and produced her first documentary feature film, “Sharing an island”, about the inter-communal relations of Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot youth. “Sharing an island” was screened widely in Cyprus and abroad, winning two awards for its contribution to peace in Cyprus and the world. 

The director is mainly interested in sociopolitical subjects, which she records through personal experiences in her films. She worked as assistant director and casting director in Greek cinema and television, in popular TV dramas, shows, films and TV commercials.
