One of Shakespeare’s most contradictory works is going to be presented at the Specially Configured Ground Level of Michael Cacoyannis Foundation, from the 7th of October 2013 and only for 12 performances. The play is directed and theatrically adapted by Araseli Laimou.

There is an outbreak of lust, passion and carnal desire in Vienna of the eccentric Duke. He decides to leave and new ruler, Lord Angelo, believes that he can fight corruption. All these until Isabella, a faithful woman, asks for mercy about her brother.”

In this peculiar black comedy, the characters are close-minded and their Desire shatters gradually their Reason. Hence, nobody can live with high principles and the conflict between moral and immoral is inevitable.

The cast of the performance is consisted of dancers and actors that are trying to approach a condition of moral crisis through speech and motion.

+ The play was written by Shakespeare in 1603 right after Queen Elisabeth’s death and it was meant to be presented in front of the conservative King Jacob.  The writer wanted to welcome the new king with a play that could stigmatize the beliefs of the new ruler and treat him with some compliments as well.
