at Michael Cacoyannis Foundation

The forthcoming theatrical production for children by Karmen Rougeri will have the title “PERSEUS AND ANDROMEDA” and it is going to be presented at the Theatre of Michael Cacoyannis Foundation, every Sunday. In addition, on Saturdays, Karmen’s theatrical workshop will teach young kids the experience of theatrical play.

“It ‘s wonderful that our kids are getting to know little by little our mythology though theatrical performances!”

… with this thought, we continue our trip to Greek mythology. This year, we have chosen Perseus.

The fairy-tale starts with Zeus being transformed into golden rain! The embracement of that golden rain by Danae , the beautiful princess of Argos- will be the cause of the birth of Perseus. Perseus is going to become one of the greatest heroes of humanity.

Few hours after Perseus’ birth, Danae and her son, are closed in a basket that is abandoned at the middle of the sea. The waves will lead them to the wonderful island of Serifos. There, a fisherman called Diktys will rescue them and he will become the teacher of young Perseus. The time will fly, as in every fairy-tale. Perseus will become a mighty young man. He will live his adventure, he will   de-capitate Medusa and finally he will fall in love with Andromeda.

The myth of Perseus and Andromeda will be presented with the form of a theatrical performance, suitable for our young and older friends.

Our brand-new performance will be accommodated at the hospitable Theatre of Michael Cacoyannis Foundation. The MCF hall provides all the suitable technical means in order to create a unique performance. Special video-projections and stage-lightings are carrying us away to the Ancient Greek land. The costumes and the scenery are fairy. The music and the songs that have been chosen are all inspired by the Greek tradi-tion. The actors are experienced and they will help the kids to take part in the theatrical action.

*The performance is organized for school visits until May 2014 after arrangement over the telephone number: 215 550 8270.

*The performance can be presented with surtitles in English following arrangement
