An awarded play (Holden Street Theatres Award Edinburghh Festival 2014 & Soho Young Writer`s Award) and an outstanding performance that gave to Elina Rizou a nomination for the Melina Mercouri award 2015. Bitch Boxer, directed by George Economou (Ivan and the dogs, Serloc Holmes and the Hound of the Baskervilles, Aphrodite with fur), after the big hit in Athens and Thessaloniki, will be presented again in the Black Box Hall in the Michael Cacoyannis Foundation from the 1st of June until the 1st of July and for only 15 performances.
London 2012. Women’s boxing has been given it’s first ever pedestal in Olympic Games history. At Stratford, a ten minute walk from her east London neighborhood and Chloe Jackson is ready. Firmly and steadily, her father has spent the past ten years coaching her, preparing her for just this moment. Their big game strategy has been planned out meticulously. Her fists are ready to throw her opponent off the ring. The phone rings. Three words and Chloe’s world turns to shambles. But Chloe is a boxer, a fighter and there’s one last game between her and the Olympic gold.
Filled with the power, danger, adrenaline and twists of a unique and irresolute boxing game, but mostly with the struggle of life itself, Bitch Boxer is an insightful, witty, daring and uniquely sensitive piece of writing. It’s a play that shines at points and wins with a knock out.

Reviews
“What we saw on stage is so impressive that you stand speechless. The performance by Elina Rizou is a knock out.” Asteropi Lazaridou, Vima Sunday
“Elina Rizou gives her soul for almost 60 minutes, by exquisetely performing a very difficult character” Aris Davarakis, toportal.gr
“Elina Rizou put on her box gloves, got on the ring, looked deep into my eyes and thrilled me. Her unquestionable domination in my inner world was caused by her genetical talent but also by the skillfulness of the director George Economou” Pavlos Lemontzis, k-tipos.gr
“George Economou has really worked with the rhythm of the performance, as he was directing a boxing fight in real timewhere the main character is attacking with fury, falls down hurt, sits in the edge of the ring…” Stella Charami, tospirto.net
