A unique night on Tuesday, May 3rd 2011 at Theatre Hall of Michael Cacoyannis Foundation
Representatives of music’s young generation are going to be met with the best moments of urban interwar song on Tuesday, May 3rd 2011 at 9p.m. at the welcoming venue of Michael Cacoyannis Foundation.
During the event new versions of a series of popular and beloved interwar-period songs will be performed, songs that are exceptional examples of renowned composers’ works like Attik, Kostas Yannidis, Michalis Souyoul, Nikos Chatziapostolou, Manolis Chiotis, Yannis Kyparissis etc.
These versions are included in an album that is going to be released firstly during the concert day and at the event venue.
The following artists participate with their works in this collective album: Thanasis Alevras, Charis Attonis, Belleville, Cyanna, Darnakes, Empty Frame, Full Tattoo, Kostas Dalakouras along with Krinthi Zira, Stathis Drogosis, Alexandros Emmanouilidis/ Maria Papageorgiou, Eleanna Zeginoglou, Sofi Konstantinidou, Matisse along with Ageliki Zika, Tia Menouti, Christos Moustakas/ Duet, Prokopis Politis/ Vagelis Asimakis, Iro Saia, Tareq, Maritta Fafouti, Giorgis Christodoulou.
The event as well as the album release is part of an entire project that combines show through music and texts and has as main aim to highlight and give prominence, mutatis mutandis, to the relation between past and present, to the similarities of behaviors that impress, as well as to the classic values and life attitudes of the Athenians facing routine and human aspects.
In this line the album includes a printed edition of short stories by young writers who get inspiration by those songs and the “alternated” versions of them. This edition includes texts written by: Dimitris Sotakis, Vasia Tzanakari, Gerasimos Evagelatos, Elias Kolokouris, Irene Sourgiadaki, Chrysa Bacha, Giannis Pliotas, Stergia Kavvalou, Irene Margariti, Kontsantina Tassopoulou, Giorgos Rombolas, Athos Dimoulas.
For this project, Yannis Kastanakis and Nikos Asimakis undertook the responsibility of organizing and supervising the music event realization as well as the CD album release, Athos Dimoulas and Giorgos Rombolas are in charge of printed version editing, while the general coordination has been undertaken by Natasa Mastorakou and Viktoras Dimas. Gerasimos Evagelatos has a special post for this project, while the initial concept and the song choice belongs to him as well.
