Retrospective Exhibition-George Kouzounis
Daily: 18:00 – 22:00
Opening: Wednesday 18th April at 20:00

The Municipality of Moschatos – Tavros is organizing the retrospective Exhibition in honour of the late artist, George Kouzounis, at the Michael Cacoyannis Foundation.
George Kouzounis (1922 – 1998) studied at the School of Fine Arts and spent most of his life in Moschatos, volunteering to teach at the Municipal Art Workshop, for a decade.
He was an exquisite artist who created works which were well ahead of his era but, for the most part, his oeuvre remained almost unknown despite the fact it was vastly exhibited. He became known mostly for his large scale cinema posters but his other work included book illustrations, murals for private and public buildings and venues as well as a series of portraits of Prime ministers which adorn the House of Parliament.
The exhibition includes prime examples from all stages of his artistic life, documentation (such as photographs, timeline, publications), as well as a rich collection of sketches, books and equipment. The exhibition will also include references to parallel artistic trends and influences running the full stretch of the creative years of the artist.
The retrospective exhibition of George Kouzounis’ work, at the Michael Cacoyannis Foundation, attempts to record the importance of his oeuvre and to share it with a wider public.
