The Play “From Station to Station” is based on the book “20 Urban One-Act-Plays” by Dora Tsogia (2016, Agra publications). The characters in the play are found moving through public and private areas of everyday life in the city: at the metro (platforms, carriages, ticket booths), as well as outside (in parks and squares). The play sheds a positive light on difficult times: the dialogues and relationships between the characters seem to be recipes for communication made out of the very ingredients of loneliness. Small dialogues in a big city, focusing on the interaction between people who are in search of something human.
The Metro (and the Railway) run through underground routes throughout the city. People, crossing paths on the platforms and in the carriages, suddenly lay themselves open and allow their own “underground” worlds of fear, repression, and hope to be seen. This passing through the underground world transforms them. The fantasy of a woman who is constantly observing the coming and going of people turns their reality into a fantasy-dream where humanity once again becomes something specific.
An eccentric man, a couple trapped in their own loneliness, an old woman looking for her dog and some form of friend in the city, a young man emerging from a state of mourning meets a girl in red boots who has surprising ways of dealing with daily life… these are all people living in the Crisis yet overcoming it.
