GROUP SHOW
Michael Cacoyannis Foundation hosts for the third consecutive year the 9th annual group exhibition entitled TESSERAE COMPOSED.
38 mosaicists present their work, revealing the multidimensionality of their art. Common ground for all, their passion for mosaic. By using the hammer and the hardie, they cut and recompose stone, marble, smalti. Wood, ceramics and metals become expressive tools applied in classical or mixed techniques.
The works take their place in the timeline, the techniques are interwined with colours, the meanings with naturalism, the specific with symbolism, realism with imagination. The works pose both expressive and technical questions: Can a mosaic touch matters that distress us? Can it be suggestive? Photography and collage techniques, can get along with tesserae? Viewers are invited to provide answers.
