It’s time to leave a difficult period behind us!
As the quarantine measures are starting to lift, we are returning to our activities surely yet safely, with a renewed sense of responsibility and social sensitivity.
Lockdown short stories
The time has come to leave a rather challenging period behind us! Without a doubt we all have a story of love, passion, perhaps joy or a funny tale to tell from these past weeks:. The Michael Cacoyannis Foundation invites you to create a one act play about the things which kept you going and the creativity and humour which can be born during times of quarantine.
Those interested should choose one of the following iconic films titles by
Michael Cacoyannis, as their inspiration to create their own quarantine story:
A Matter of Dignity
Windfall in Athens
A Girl in black
The Day the Fish Came Out

Art is for everyone! Art belongs to us all!
As we emerge from these difficult times, Art will once again be our greatest celebration. We are all living through an unprecedented situation. Within this state of mandatory confinement it is natural to seek an outlet. And there is a friend, a source of comfort and company who will always be there. Art. Through films, books, poetry, visual art, theatre and music we are able to travel mentally and enrich our lives until we are able to return to life as we knew it..
During these times, at the Michael Cacoyannis Foundation, we can but feel the void which is usually filled by our audiences, the colours, the voices, the joy of a performance, even the inevitable tensions and quirks. And so we came up with an alternative way to reach out and stay connected. Through a journey into the history of theatre. Going back in time we will visit the theatres of Athens, and the theatrical performances, in the greatest moments of our rich cultural heritage.
The Michael Cacoyannis Foundation, along with friends and associates, we created a video – seal of our promise that we will return. We held, digitally also, the theatre light on!
Tasos Nousias and Constantinos Chatzis directed monumental greek texts (Euripides, Hesiod, Sophocles, Aeschylus, Chimonas, Liantinis).
Our companions in this endeavour were important representatives of the Art of Theatre: Roubini Vasilakopoulou, Lydia Koniordou, Kostas Kourtaras, Nikos Manessis, Alexandra Palaiologou, Alkistis Poulopoulou. In this way, we send out a message about the power of Art. A message addressed to the whole world, from Greece, the country where Theatre was born.
